PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia mob consigliere George Borgesi, the No. 3 man in the crime family headed by Joseph "Skinny Joey" Merlino, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for racketeering and ordered to pay a $17,500 fine.

U.S. District Judge Herbert Hutton on Thursday gave Borgesi the same amount of jail time as Merlino, who was sentenced Monday.

Borgesi, 38, of Cherry Hill, N.J., was one of seven defendants in a four-month trial that ended in July with convictions for racketeering, extortion, illegal gambling, unlawful collection of debts and other offenses.
