SPANISH FORK — The descendants of the first Icelanders sent to settle Spanish Fork starting in the 1850s still retain their heritage and hold traditional celebrations annually. The next is Thorrakvold on Feb. 24.

The Icelandic Association of Utah Inc. will order food from Iceland for the event, including pickled ram's testicles, pickled lamb's head, cured shark and sheep's blood, according to the organization's newsletter.

"It's really gross," said member Lil Shepherd, but folks like to sample it. Rounding out the Viking feast is leg of lamb and prime rib.
