FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) — An artillery training accident at the Army's Fort Drum killed one person Wednesday and wounded 14 others, a base spokesman said.

"We've had a real-world training incident and we've had casualties," said the spokesman, Maj. Ken W. McDorman. Two artillery rounds landed near a mess tent at 7:20 a.m., he said. There was no word on the size of the shells.

The wounded soldiers are from the 110th Military Intelligence Battalion, part of the 10th Mountain Division, McDorman said. They were taken to hospitals; their conditions were not immediately available. Names were withheld pending notification of relatives.
