1939 ~ 2003

Herman Jacob Stuivenvolt, beloved husband, dad and Opa, passed away December 15, 2003 after a valiant five month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Herman was born December 31, 1939 in Dokkum, The Netherlands. He married the love of his life and best friend, Johanna Zandstra on June 8, 1961. They immigrated to the United States in November 1961. Together they had three children, Bernard, who passed away in March 1979, Joanne (Todd) and Mandy (John). Herman had five beautiful grandchildren, Bernard, Chelsea, Lieren, Lexie and Jacob who will miss their Opa deeply.

Herman and Ate Oenes started Quality Steel in 1974 and were partners for 10 years. Herman then went on to successfully run this business for another 19 years until his retirement on December 31, 2002.

Herman was a great soccer player and fan.

We want to thank Dr. Graydon Harker and his team for their loving care and compassion as well as all the wonderful nurses from the 3rd floor at St. Marks Hospital.

Herman is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, brothers, sisters, their spouses, and his in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

A vigil for Herman will be held on Thursday, December 18th, at 6:30 p.m. with visitation from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Dec. 19th at 11 a.m. at St Martin De Porres Catholic Church on 4914 South 2200 West in Taylorsville. Funeral directors, Redwood Memorial Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, Herman asked that donations be made to his favorite little place, St. Francis Xavier School, 4501 W. 5215 S., Kearns, UT 84118.
