"Lord's Angel"
BLUFFDALE, UTAH- <! > Joy Draper Sturdevant, age 67, was born February 4, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on November 28, 2004, at her home after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was the adopted daughter of Neal and Alvretta Draper, (her aunt) when her mother Eva Joy Shay died in childbirth.
As a child Joy grew up with one hundred percent Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church attendance, and attended grade school in Redmond, Utah and high school in
Salina, Utah.
Joy married Gary F. Sturdevant August 20, 1954, in Redmond, Utah. Gary was riveted to Joy and Joy was riveted to Gary the first time they met. She became his angel.
Joy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved having her family gathered together around her. Joy was adored by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren and great-grand-daughters. Traveling and cruising were her favorite pastimes.
Joy served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Crescent 1st Ward. She always enjoyed the young children, and served in the Cub Scout program for 34 years where she was awarded the Silver Beaver.
Joy is survived by her husband of 50 years, two sons Dent (G.D.) Alpine, Wyoming and Keith (Janice) Draper, Utah; grandson Charles (Monica) with two great-granddaughters Jamie and Brittney, Draper, Utah; and granddaughter Audrey attending college in Manhattan, New York; sisters Louie (Bry) Sorensen, Salt Lake City, UT; Frances Jensen, Sterling, UT; brother Don (Amy) Draper, Sacramento, CA.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her many lifelong friends, Crescent 1st Ward friends, and new friends in the Bluffdale 4th Ward.

Friends and family may call Friday, December 3rd from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley at 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 S.) South Jordan, UT. Funeral services will be held in the Bluffdale 4th Ward Chapel, 14400 S. 1700 W., Dec. 4th at 12:00 noon with a viewing one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Crescent Cemetery, 11105 So. State Sandy, Utah.
