1926 ~ 2004

Anthonius Johannes (Tony) Landaal, 78, passed away on April 9, 2004 in Bountiful, Utah surrounded by his family.

Born January 2, 1926 to Henri Gerard Landaal and Josephina Elisabeth Schroder in Utrecht, Holland. Married to Jitske Kuin in October, 1948 in Amsterdam, Holland, later divorced and married Carol Ann Hyde on February 19, 1965 in Salt Lake City.

Raised in Holland and a survivor of World War II prison camps, Tony immigrated to the United States on August 1954 in search of the American dream. He proudly became a naturalized United States Citizen in 1959. He continued to embrace his European heritage throughout his life. To that end he was a member of Hollandia, a Dutch social club and The Dutch Radio Choir, traveling throughout Utah from church to church expressing his spirituality through song. Tony displayed a loving zest for life and in turn was loved by many. He was a devout Christian and caring husband and father. His love of travel and family took him often to The Netherlands, Australia, Canada and various destinations within the United States. He was employed by Grand Central, Keith Warshaw and retired from Mountain Fuel.

Tony is survived by his wife Carol Landaal, his children Marie Landaal Miller (Don), Alyda Landaal Tomlin (Dave), Jody Landaal Armstrong (Doug), Anthonious Johannes Landaal Jr., Anne Landaal Cloward (Blake); his step-children Barry Godding (Rhonda), Brent Godding (Ruth), Gina Godding Bodtker (Bruce), Mark Godding (Linda), Thomas Howard, 16 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Tony is preceded in death by his daughter Jitske Patricia Landaal, great-granddaughter Ashley Tomlin, sister Josephine Rammers, sister Annie Venhof, brother Johannes Landaal and brother Henry Landaal.

Funeral services will be held Thursday April 15, 2004 at noon at The Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Wednesday April 14, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to services. Interment to be announced.
