WOODLAND HILLS — A bit of history is destined for destruction.

The City Council has agreed to tear down the north walls that once held steel entry gates to this posh mountain community. The gates were put up more than 30 years ago to allow residents to regulate who was allowed into the community before it incorporated in 1979.

The council has not set a date for the razing. A landscaping plan may have to be designed first to hide power boxes behind the gates that will be exposed when the walls come down, Mayor Toby Harding said.
