The younger brother of a convicted murderer was named Public Enemy No. 1 this week by the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit, making him one of the unit's youngest Public Enemy No. 1's.

Terence Vos, 16, has a $150,000 warrant out for his arrest in connection with a drive-by shooting. Vos is a suspect in several gun-related incidents over the past few months, including a shooting over the weekend in Salt Lake City at a party near 100 South and 900 West, said Sgt. Bill Robertson with the Metro Gang Unit. Three people were shot in that incident, one critically injured.

"He's been very active as of late," he said. "He was big-time on our radar. We need to get him off the street as soon as possible."

Vos also has an extensive juvenile record and is believed to have been running with gangs for the past five to six years.

Vos' older brother is Isiah Bo'Cage Vos who was sentenced in 2005 to six years to life in the Utah State Prison for the murder of 21-year-old Jeffrey L. Maestas.

"It's quite alarming he's had that influence," Robertson said.

Terence Vos has been in the gang environment for so long that detectives are concerned he might believe he has something to prove or just wants to follow in the footsteps of his older brother or simply has the gangster mentality that there are no consequences, Robertson said. A common tattoo for many gang members is "smile now, cry later."

Investigators want to get Terence Vos off the street as soon as possible both for the public's safety and his own.

"We want to get him before he's either confronted by (Maestas supporters) or does something stupid himself again," Robertson said.

When Vos is captured, Robertson said he'd be surprised if he isn't certified as an adult in court. Vos is a light-skinned black male, about 5-feet-11 inches and 186 pounds. He has brown eyes and light brown hair.

Anyone with information on Vos is asked to call the gang unit at 743-7000.
