The family of slain 5-year-old Destiny Norton has announced the birth of her baby sister.

Faith LeeAnn Norton was born at 10:09 p.m. Tuesday, her family told the Deseret Morning News. She weighs 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

The baby girl was originally to be named "Fate," a name that had been picked out by Destiny herself. Her parents, Ricky and Rachael Norton, decided to change her name, said Destiny's uncle Peter Brooks.

"I think it has something to do with the faith they've received through all of this," he said Wednesday.

Rachael Norton and Faith are reported to be doing fine.

Destiny Norton vanished from her back yard on July 16. At the time, her mother was eight months pregnant. Rachael Norton was supposed to be on bed rest because she was experiencing premature labor pains. However, the massive eight-day volunteer search for her missing daughter kept her on her feet much of the time.

On July 24, Destiny Norton was found dead in the basement of a neighbor who has now been charged with her murder.

Craig Roger Gregerson, 20, is accused of luring Destiny into his apartment, smothering her to death and then sexually assaulting her body. He is charged with aggravated murder, a capital offense, and first-degree felony child kidnapping.
