Albertsons plans to close its store in Draper at 11479 S. State on Feb. 23, in order to "operate more efficiently and effectively within the current economic environment," the company said in a news release Friday.

The grocery-store chain said the store had not met the company's profitability goals.

Albertsons, which operates 43 other grocery stores in Utah, has already instituted a hiring freeze and said it plans to transfer as many of the Draper store's employees to the company's other locations as possible.
