InVectus BioMedical's Daisy Clip was named the first-place winner in Grow Utah Ventures' "Concept to Company" contest for medical devices.

The announcement was made Friday. InVectus earned the $20,000 grand prize. Otokinetics and Fresh Medical Laboratories products were named second- and third-prize winners, respectively. Each received $10,000 in cash and consulting services.

Grow Utah Ventures conducts the contests in conjunction with Zions Bank, the Utah Science Technology and Research initiative and Salt Lake Community College's Miller Business Innovation Center. The medical-devices contest attracted more than 50 applications.

Grow Utah Ventures will have other competitions during 2009 in various parts of the state. The next contest, scheduled to kick off in July, will be held in Vernal and will focus on energy innovation.
