- The Church of Jesus Christ’s Sunday meeting schedule will change globally beginning Sept. 6.
- Videos, resources and instruction are now available for Sunday, Aug. 30, and Sunday, Sept. 6, when members will gather to discuss the new schedule changes.
- New supplemental videos regarding nuances and the implementation of the new schedule changes are also available.
Instructional videos are now available to help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prepare for the new Sunday meeting schedule effective worldwide Sunday, Sept. 6.
The new instructional videos — released Monday, Aug. 3 — are now available to watch on ChurchofJesusChrist.org and the church’s Gospel Library app, under Handbooks and Callings.
Four of the new videos are organized for use on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6, when members worldwide will gather in their local congregations for special Sunday instruction regarding the new schedule changes.
An additional series of short supplemental videos is also available for church members and leaders to learn more about implementing the new schedule changes.
Here’s a roundup of the new videos and their accompanying discussion questions, which members and leaders are invited to consider and discuss.
Youth instruction materials for Aug. 30
All youth, children turning 12 in 2027, their parents and youth leaders will be invited to gather in their congregations during class time on Sunday, Aug. 30, to watch an instructional video about the new youth curriculum.
The 23-minute instructional video — titled “For the Strength of Youth Curriculum” — features Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and Young Men General President Timothy L. Farness discussing the new youth curriculum, what’s changing and why.
Members are encouraged to pause the video throughout and discuss the questions below, or watch the entire video and then have a discussion using the questions:
- “How will we be blessed by the updated FSY guide and the new Sunday curriculum?”
- “As we follow the pattern in Doctrine and Covenants 88:122, how can we let the Holy Ghost guide what we say and how we listen so everyone feels uplifted?”
- “How will this new weekly schedule give us more opportunities to build strong relationships?”
The instructional video and meeting are intended to help demonstrate how to use the new youth curriculum effectively, introduce supporting curriculum materials and offer practical instruction on how youth can participate fully in weekly classes.
All other adults not participating in the instructional youth meeting will attend a fifth-Sunday lesson under the direction of local leaders, though local leaders may choose to combine all adults for the instructional meeting. Primary children will follow their normal schedule.
Youth and adult Sunday School instruction materials for Sept. 6
Following sacrament meeting on Sunday, Sept. 6, all Latter-day Saint youth and adults will begin implementing the new meeting schedule and attend Sunday School for 25 minutes. During that time, they will watch the following two videos and discuss their accompanying discussion questions.
- Video 1 — titled “The Sabbath and Sacrament Meeting” — features Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
- Class will discuss: “How can we create a sacrament meeting that focuses on spiritual renewal and growth through Jesus Christ?”
- Video 2 — titled “Sunday School” — features Sunday School General President Paul V. Johnson.
- Class will discuss: “How can our time together deepen understanding of the Savior and strengthen gospel learning in the home?”
After watching both videos, youth and adult members will also discuss the ideas and questions in sections 1, 2 and 4 of the church’s implementation guide, released in June.
Following Sunday School, youth will attend their classes or quorums and begin using the new curriculum, while adults will attend their Relief Society or elders quorum meetings for 25 minutes.
Relief Society and elders quorums instruction materials — for viewing Sept. 6
Adult members will watch the video — titled “Relief Society and Elders Quorums” — during their congregations’ Relief Society and elders quorum meetings.
The video is roughly six minutes long and features Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson and Elder Arnulfo Valenzuela of the church’s Presidency of the Seventy.
Following the video, adult members will discuss the following questions and section 5 of the church’s implementation guide:
- “What can we do during the week to prepare for Relief Society or elders quorum?”
- “How will meeting weekly help us strengthen our fellowship with one another?”
9 supplemental videos regarding schedule changes and implementation
In addition to the instructional videos mentioned above, the church has released nine short supplemental videos featuring church leaders discussing nuances of the changes and answering questions in a panel discussion held in April 2026.
The videos are available in the same place on the church’s website, Gospel Library app and on Sunday.ChurchofJesusChrist.org under “Sunday Schedule Refinements Panel Discussion.” The videos discuss questions such as:
- How have Primary teachers learned to be successful with lessons that are only 20 minutes long?
- How does the new format change the expectations for teachers and quality teaching?
- What can a bishopric do to help the new format be successful and bless all members?
