PROVO — Ancestry.com on Thursday finished its acquisition of Genline.se, which is the top Swedish family history website.
The acquisition adds to Ancestry's roster all of Genline's 26 million pages of digitized Swedish church records, which extend from the 17th century to the 20th century. Genline has 17,000 paying members.
"The combination of the Ancestry.com family of websites and Genline.se will benefit users of all Ancestry sites by offering access to a greater amount of important historical content and broadening the active member community vital to researching family history," said Brett Bouchard, managing director Europe for Ancestry.com.
Ancestry.com has 1 million paying subscribers. It has added more than 5 billion records to the site in the past 13 years.
