RICHFIELD — Police in Richfield responded to a home Friday to find two dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
Scott Rickenbach, 45, and Lori Rickenbach, 41, were found at their home at 747 N. 400 East, around 11:30 a.m., according to Richfield police.
The pair, who are parents to children ages 10, 14, 15 and 17, were dead when police arrived at the home.
Richfield police said the bodies have been sent to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office to confirm the cause of death. They declined to provide further information as to who is believed to have fired the fatal shots or what the motive may have been.
"It's an active investigation and we can't release more than what's on the press release right now," an emergency dispatcher said.
Lori Rickenbach worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles office and Scott Rickenbach was a farmer. Neighbors and friends of the couple were shocked when they heard the news, saying that the couple was always the kind to be seen with a smile on their face.
"They're the ones that always (had) a smile on their face," neighbor Kylie Winn said. "I've never seen them upset, angry, especially not at each other."
