Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay will miss at least four weeks with a left shoulder injury, a potentially serious blow to Memphis' playoff chances.

Gay suffered the injury in the second quarter of Tuesday night's 102-91 win against the Philadelphia 76ers.

An MRI Wednesday showed a partial dislocation of the shoulder.

The 6-foot-8 forward will begin rehabilitation in a week and be re-evaluated in four weeks, the team said Wednesday in a statement.

KAMAN RETURNS: Chris Kaman is back with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Coach Vinny Del Negro said the 7-footer would play 10 to 15 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's game at Minnesota, now that his sprained left ankle is finally healed to the point where he's able to take the floor.

Kaman first got hurt Nov. 9 against New Orleans, returned for two games and aggravated the injury Dec. 5 against Portland. He missed 45 games in all.

SILAS NAMED PERMANENT COACH: The Bobcats removed the interim tag from coach Paul Silas on Wednesday, rewarding him with a one-year extension after he helped get Charlotte into playoff contention following a miserable start under Larry Brown.

"It's a very exciting day for me knowing I'll be here this year and next year and have a chance to really make this team special," Silas said at a news conference. "There's a long way to go, but we're getting there."

Owner Michael Jordan's decision comes less than two months after he fired Brown following Charlotte's 9-19 start that left a fractured team. Guard Stephen Jackson said a change was needed because "nobody wanted to play" for the demanding Brown, who had routinely criticized his players.
