Gov. Gary Herbert named Sean Reyes as Utah attorney general during a Monday morning news conference, filling the post that was left vacant when former Attorney General John Swallow resigned on Nov. 21.
Reyes was one of three candidates chosen by members of the GOP State Central Committee on Dec. 14 to replace Swallow, being named alongside Robert Smith and Brian Tarbet.
Reyes, who lost to Swallow in the 2012 GOP primary election, is committed to keeping the office long term. He is a founder and general counsel of Accelerate Ventures, a venture capital firm with offices in Utah and Oregon.
