A news station in Madison, Wisconsin, reported Monday that BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall applied for the Wisconsin head coaching job, but it's some of the other applicants that have gained national attention.
According to an open records request obtained by WISCTV News 3 in Madison, Mendenhall was among 46 applicants for the Wisconsin head coaching position, along with a bartender, a salesman, a real estate agent and a teacher.
Of course in the end Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez picked former Badger offensive coordinator and Pittsburgh head coach Paul Chryst to head the program. However, one may wonder if Chryst's video game skills match those of the every day citizens that applied for the job.

One applicant from Chandler, Arizona, noted he was perfect for the job because he was "ridiculously good" at the NCAA football video game, while Greg Miller (not that Greg Miller) bragged about his experience in Madden '92, Bill Walsh '93 and the NCAA Football video games in his resume, according to the Associated Press.
Another listed his past coaching in kindergarten as prior experience.
According to ESPN.com, salary requests from the video game experts ranged from $10 million to "maybe an autograph?"
Mendenhall did not cite his video game experience in his resume, according to what SB Nation's Evan D. Brown posted on Scribd.com (see page 16 for Mendenhall's documents, which appear to just be his bio in the BYU football media guide). The BYU coach concluded his 10th season at the helm of the Cougars on Monday. He has a 90-39 record as the head coach in that time.
The job became available when Gary Andersen left for Oregon State. The No. 17 Badgers finished 10-3 this season and play Auburn in the Outback Bowl set for New Year's Day.
