"WORTH WAITING FOR," by Sally Johnson, Covenant Communications, $14.99, 180 pages (f)

Sophia Davis has decided that she suffers from philophobia, the fear of falling in love. Fortunately, Luke James, her boyfriend, has been more than patient and loving in “Worth Waiting For,” the sequel to “The Skeleton in My Closet Wears a Wedding Dress.” Because of her past experiences with her ex-husband, Sophia seems unable to work past her relationship fears, causing major problems in her relationship with James and everyone else she is close to.

Of course, having friends and frenemies become engaged and gushing about love doesn’t help Sophia’s attitude. But somehow, despite Sophia’s lack of personality and her penchant for staying in her room to crochet, Luke sticks around.

Readers never figure out just what a great guy like Luke sees in Sophia. Besides being self-absorbed, she constantly vocally compares Luke to her ex and seems to dislike many of the people in her life. The only thing she has going for her is that she looks like Barbie. Regardless, Luke isn’t the only male under her spell. Other guys also show interest in Sophia, despite her constant fear of trying anything new and her obvious rebuffs.

Author Sally Johnson’s book is full of random conversations that have nothing to do with the plot and Sophia’s never-ending introspections. While a few preachy moments in a novel are OK, this book has an overabundance of the same ones and readers might wonder if they picked up a romance novel or a self-help book.

“Worth Waiting For” is a clean book with no violence, profanity, or innuendos. The romance doesn’t go beyond kissing and all the characters are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

LDS author Sally Johnson graduated from BYU and lives with her family in Nevada.
