COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — The Unified Fire Department will be offering free CPR classes for residents of Cottonwood Heights starting Monday.
The classes, called “Push to Survive,” will focus on the use of the “push only” CPR technique. According to Unified fire, the average response times in Salt Lake County, regardless of in which city, township or region someone lives, is five to eight minutes from when someone calls 911 to emergency responders' arrival at the scene.
Each minute a non-beating heart goes without proper chest compressions, the chance of survival is diminished by 10 percent, fire officials said.
Classes will be held at the Cottonwood Heights Unified Fire Station 110 at 1790 Fort Union Blvd. from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Classes will be held Monday, June 1; Sunday, June 7; Saturday, June 13; Friday, June 19, and Thursday, June 25.
