Disney’s live-action version of “Cinderella” hit Redbox this week, giving viewers another way to be reminded of the film’s admonition to “have courage, and be kind." Here are five films, including "Cinderella," that contain themes of courage and kindness.

Redbox: 'Cinderella'

This recent version of the well-loved fairy tale tells its familiar story with particular emphasis on the title character's courage and kindness despite her unfavorable circumstances. In addition to its positive theme statement, Parents Television Council praised the film for its lack of objectionable content, adding, “Filled with luscious visuals, action, comedy and above all romance, ‘Cinderella’ deserves to be seen by every family who wants to introduce their children to classic (and classy) fairy tales.” Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 5 and older.

Netflix: 'The Rescuers'

Two mice from the Rescue Aid Society courageously seek to help a young orphan girl. Parent Previews emphasized that the film promotes “the idea that little creatures can still do big things.” Due to a few potentially scary scenes, the website encourages parents to watch the film with their children. Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 5 and older.

Netflix: 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'

A lonely bell-ringer and a beautiful gypsy become friends, each showing the other kindness in their way. The Dove Foundation writes that “this family treat is filled with humor, adventure and positive messages,” but warns there may be some frightening scenes.
