SALT LAKE CITY — Two Utah chains that sell flavor-shot-spiked "dirty sodas" say they're nearing a settlement in their court battle over trademark rights.

Court documents filed Thursday show the soda shops Sodalicious and Swig are asking a judge to pause the case for a month while negotiations continue.

Swig filed the lawsuit last year claiming that Sodalicious ripped off the increasingly profitable sugary concept.

Sodalicious pushed back, saying the word "dirty" is a common drink moniker and the company had done nothing wrong.

The case had been scheduled to go to trial in August 2017.
