SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt is lending advice for Donald Trump's transition to the White House should the presumptive Republican nominee win the presidency.
Leavitt managed Mitt Romney's potential transition team in 2012 and devised a plan for the GOP presidential candidate's first 200 days in office.
Leavitt, who endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich and favored a contested convention to thwart Trump's nomination, said his priority now is to pass on what he learned to the Trump team.
"My job was to prepare a government," he told the Washington Post. "I took it seriously, and I think they should. Donald Trump especially should. He needs to have help because he’s not been in government before."
Trump tapped New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie last week to head his transition team should the billionaire businessman become president.
"He is a great choice for a critically important task," Leavitt earlier told the Deseret News.
