Grant and Amy Smith try to keep their son, Colby, still as a monarch butterfly rests on his head at the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District’s Conservation Garden Park in West Jordan on Saturday. Hundreds of people turned out for the garden's fourth annual Party in the Park, where more than 500 monarch butterflies were released. In addition to the butterfly release, the party included live music, food trucks, kids’ crafts, animal encounters and educational booths. Attendees were also able to stroll the garden and see Utah-friendly plants and to learn about landscaping for Utah’s unique climate.
