SALT LAKE CITY — “Avengers: Endgame” had a tragic ending.
- One of the characters, (spoilers) Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), sacrifices his life at the end of “Endgame” to save the entire universe, more or less. He puts on the Iron Man-style Infinity Gauntlet, snaps his fingers and saves the world by doing so.
- We later see Stark’s funeral, which featured all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s characters coming together. We see Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and plenty of other characters. And then there’s a lanky, gawky teenager standing in the background. So who is that boy? Well, you’ve seen him before.
- According to Vanity Fair, that boy is Harley Keener, a little boy from “Iron Man 3” who helps Tony Stark fix up his busted Iron Man.
Stark meets the little boy when Harley breaks into his garage.
- “Harley confronts Stark, angrily wielding a potato gun and preparing to attack the mysterious intruder — until he realizes he’s the Tony Stark, who’s believed to be dead at that point in the story,” according to Vanity Fair. “After that, Harley is thrilled that Stark’s in his garage. It also turns out that he’s surprisingly tech-savvy; the kid sets about making repair recommendations, like panels that will give the suit stealth mode. He’s like a precocious, temporary sidekick for the rest of the film, helping Stark in his time of need.”
According to IGN, it makes sense that the little boy appears at the funeral since he had such a profound impact on the entire MCU.
