SALT LAKE CITY — Before catching any monsters or battling in a gym, “Pokemon Go” players are asked to not play and drive.
This guy seems to have missed the eight warnings he should have seen.
According to the Seattle Times, Washington State Patrolman Sgt. Kyle Smith approached a car pulled over near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to see if the driver needed assistance. Instead, he found the driver playing “Pokemon Go …” on eight phones.
Another state trooper shared a photo of the driver’s inspired setup via Twitter — the picture shows eight devices — including one iPhone — sitting in slots carved into a foam board in the passenger seat.
Kotaku notes the driver receiving a warning for pulling over on a highway for nonemergency reasons and was asked to put his “Pokemon Go” setup in the back seat.
Despite in-game warnings meant to prevent reckless behavior and promote situational awareness, some “Pokemon Go” players have still found themselves in dangerous spots. CNN reports a man two men playing the game fell off a 100-foot cliff in Encinitas, California, in 2016.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sgt. Rich Eaton of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said people need to prioritize their safety over catching Pokemon.
“I think people just need to realize this is a game,” Eaton said. “It’s not worth your life. No game is worth your life.”
