Utah State’s basketball program is adding a first-team all-conference player to its team.

Former UMBC guard R.J. Eytle-Rock announced Monday on Twitter he is headed to Utah State. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound London native earned America East Conference all-first team honors this past season, after being named to the league’s all-rookie team in 2019.

Last week, Verbal Commits announced Eytle-Rock had entered the NCAA transfer portal. He’s the second UMBC player, including forward Brandon Horvath, to follow new Aggies coach Ryan Odom to Logan.

Eytle-Rock had a breakout season as a junior in 2020-21, starting every game while leading UMBC with 14.3 points per game and shooting a career-high 47% from the floor and 41% from 3-point range. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists (also a team high) per game.

Alphonso Anderson, Marco Anthony, Karson Stastny and Zahar Vedischev are players from Utah State’s roster last season who are still in the transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits. Guard Rollie Worster is transferring to Utah, while senior center Kuba Karwowski is headed to Sam Houston State.
