Former “The Mandalorian” star Gina Carano recently hinted at a return to “Star Wars” with her latest Twitter post.
One of her most recent tweets shows a lone figure standing within the edges of a cave. Three bright suns shine in the distance as the figure walks toward them.
It’s hard not to immediately make comparisons to Tatooine, the famous “Star Wars” planet where Luke Skywalker was raised.

Why did Gina Carano exit ‘Star Wars’ franchise?
Carano was originally fired from Lucasfilm after months of controversial social media posts, which focused on politics and the novel coronavirus pandemic, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Lucasfilm released a statement (via i09) at the time that explained the decision to release her: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Will Gina Carano return?
Rumors have existed for some time that Carano would return to “Star Wars” in some capacity. Multiple “Star Wars” rumor sites have suggested that Hollywood agents had been in talks with Disney to bring Carano back, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
Per CinemaBlend, the artwork comes from the digital artist Stuz0r, who has made science fiction imagery in the past. So it might have nothing to do with “Star Wars” at all.
