Today in Orange County, California, a shooting occurred at a Geneva Presbyterian church in a retirement community in Laguna Woods, per NBC

The Orange County Sheriff’s Twitter account reported on the shooting and has continued to add updates periodically.

NBC later reported that one person was found dead at the scene and five others were injured. All five living victims were taken to the hospital.

The Los Angeles Times reported the shooting occurred during a lunch the congregation was holding after church services. It was also reported that a group of those in attendance “hog-tied” the shooter with an extension cord to stop the shooter and detain him so that police could later take the suspect into custody.

“They undoubtedly prevented additional injuries and fatalities,” Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock said, according to NBC News. “It appears that one or more of the congregants did act quite heroically.”
