The state-qualifying 5A divisional cross-country races were held on Tuesday at Lakeside Park in Orem as team readied themselves for the state championships on Oct. 24 at the Regional Athletic Complex in Rose Park.
Teams from regions 4, 5, 6 and 7 were split up into two divisional meets, with the top 11 teams in each divisional meet qualifying for state, along with the top six individual who weren’t on a qualifying team.
Timpview’s Lily Alder posted the top qualifying time for the girls by crossing the finish line in 18:10.9, while Olympus’ JoJo Jourdan posted the top time for the boys in 16:01.05.
The will be a new boys 5A champion crowned at the state meet as last year’s champ Mountain View dropped down into 4A. Springville’s girls will be chasing a sixth straight state championship.
