SALT LAKE CITY — “Fargo” and “Legion” creator Noah Hawley has had a script for a Doctor Doom-focused movie in the works that could be ready to go soon, if Marvel Studios wants it.
In an interview with Deadline, Hawley addressed the status of his Fantastic Four-related movie following Disney’s acquisition of Fox. He said he needs to touch base with Marvel Studios but would be ready to work on the Doctor Doom film once he’s finished with his post-”Legion” vacation.
“I need to circle back to them and announce that I would love to make it and figure out if that’s something that is possible. Whether or not they already have a plan in place for what to do with those characters or whether they’re open to my kind of vision for what to do with those characters,” Hawley said. “But it’s sort of on me right now to go push them, which I will do as soon as I come up for air.”
While Hawley hasn’t worked on any Marvel movies, he’s been involved with Marvel TV for a few years now with “Legion,” which follows the adventures of David Haller, who ComicBook.com notes, is the son of Charles Xavier and an omega-level mutant telepath suffering from dissociative identity disorder.
“Legion,” which aired on FX and starred Dan Stevens (“Beauty and the Beast” and “Downton Abbey”) as Haller, wrapped up its third and final season this week, according to Vulture.
As for Doom, Marvel’s website notes the villain uses science and magic to fight against his nemesis and Fantastic Four leader Reed Richards. The character was most recently portrayed by Toby Kebbell in the 2015 “Fantastic Four” reboot, according to Gizmodo.
Marvel Studios’ plans for the Fantastic Four haven’t been revealed, but we know they’re coming. Deseret News reports that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said during a San Diego Comic Con presentation the characters would appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future.
