SALT LAKE CITY — Disney Plus is set to launch on Nov. 12 for $6.99 a month, but you can get a significant discount for your first three years if you’re willing to pay upfront.

According to CNET, Disney is offering D23 fan club members a discount that ultimately nets out to $3.92 a month. The catch? Members need to commit to a three-year plan, which costs $140. The offer is good through Sept. 2, so if you’re interested, you can sign up for a general membership at D23’s website.

Gizmodo also reports the discount for the three-year plan cuts the price down to about what one year of Netflix’s $13-a-month plan normally costs. In comparison, subscribers without the discount can expect to ultimately pay about $70 a year, which means if you’re willing to go the D23 route, you can save about $70 from the regular price of $210 for a three-year period.

Signing up for the service can be done in a few easy steps:

  1. Navigate to D23.com.
  2. Click on “Join the Club” then “Become a D23 General Member.”
  3. Click on “Create an Account,” then fill in the registration form.

Afterward, you should receive an email with your discount offer. Keep in mind Disney’s website could also suffer from some significant traffic issues — Polygon notes D23’s page briefly crashed due to high demand.

If you’re still unsure whether or not Disney Plus is right for you, I’ve reported for the Deseret News how the streaming service stacks up to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Hulu. The Deseret News also has a list of every movie and TV show available at launch, which includes “The Mandalorian,” the first live-action “Star Wars” series.

The service’s future looks bright too. Marvel has recently announced several shows featuring characters such as Loki, Scarlet Witch, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also announced at the D23 Expo Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for an exclusive series.
