SALT LAKE CITY — A trailer for the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” extended cut has been released, promising some additional footage previously cut from the movie.
According to ComicBook.com, the new 15-second trailer confirms the recut will release this weekend and shows off a few seconds of the new scenes, including a look at a spider-drone, Mr. Delmar from “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and a fight with a New York mob that previously appeared in pre-release trailers for the movie.
You can check out the spot on Twitter.
I previously reported for Deseret News that the rerelease follows “Avengers: Endgame’s” previous marketing bump, but features a little more substance — a few minutes of new action is definitely more appealing than an unfinished scene.
Set some expectations, though. Variety also indicates the new footage adds about four minutes to the movie’s runtime.
“Far From Home” has also been successful in its own right, making about $1.1 billion worldwide so far, according to Box Office Mojo. However, “Far From Home” is also potentially the last time fans can expect to see Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I recently reported for Deseret News that Disney and Sony have ended their business deal that allowed Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in several “Avengers” movies, starting with “Captain America: Civil War.” Sony confirmed the agreement had ended via Twitter, while reports indicate the falling out was due to a proposed co-financing agreement.
Holland also recently said he’s been happy with his run as Spider-Man and plans on playing the hero onscreen in the future with or without Marvel’s involvement.
“I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life,” Holland told Entertainment Weekly at the D23 Expo. “It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”
