We now know the opening crawl for “Star Wars: The High Republic” — the upcoming “Star Wars” project that takes us 200 years into the past.
What’s going on?
The new “Star Wars: The High Republic” project — a series of novels, graphic novels and comic books centered on one storyline — will be released this winter.
- “The High Republic” will take place 200 years before the prequel trilogy.
- The story will show Jedi Knights at their prime, who have to battle foes called the Nihil.

StarWars.com released the project’s opening crawl, which you can read below.
“The galaxy is at peace, ruled by the glorious REPUBLIC and protected by the noble and wise JEDI KNIGHTS.
“As a symbol of all that is good, the Republic is about to launch the STARLIGHT BEACON into the far reaches of the Outer Rim. This new space station will serve as a ray of hope for all to see.
“But just as a magnificent renaissance spreads throughout the Republic, so does a frightening new adversary. Now the guardians of peace and justice must face a threat to themselves, the galaxy, and the Force itself ...”
What else should you know?
- “The High Republic” has a direct connection to the sequel trilogy, which involves Kylo Ren.
- Yoda will reportedly appear in the books as well. A first-look at Yoda was released in September.
- Concept art for the lightsabers in “The High Republic” also dropped online in September.
