The most recent episode of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian” showed villain Moff Gideon wearing armor that looked a lot like Darth Vader’s own armor.

What’s going on?

The end of the fourth episode of season 2 — titled “The Siege” — showed Gideon preparing his Dark Trooper army (more on that later). He wore an all black outfit with a data pad on the front and a cape behind him.

The uniform looked eerily similar to Darth Vader’s armor worn throughout the Skywalker Saga.

You can see Gideon’s outfit below, followed by a photo of Darth Vader for comparison.

The other dark reveal in ‘The Mandalorian’

The fourth episode of season 2 ended with a cliffhanger that showed Gideon reviewing his legion of troopers, who appear locked into a wall. The troopers are dressed in all-black armor.

These troopers resemble the Dark Troopers or Shadow Troopers, according to Games Radar. These stormtrooper-like soldiers first appeared in the “Dark Forces” video game, which came out in 1995.

  • “They’re highly dangerous, and some of the builds even have Beskar-beating, Force-wielding exoskeletons. In short, even one of the Dark Troopers could probably take Mando one-on-one,” according to Games Radar.
