Fortnite has added a new character skin based on Marvel’s Black Panther as the video game continues to connect with the Marvel franchise.

What’s going on?

Epic Games revealed the new Black Panther skin in a YouTube video this week. The skin appeared in the game shortly after.

  • The Black Panther skin comes in a package with Taskmaster and Captain Marvel skins. The two heroes are also apart of the Marvel Comics universe.

Epic Games announced a new Wakanda Forever emote for the game, too. All Fortnite players can earn it by playing a few matches.

How to get the Black Panther skin

To unlock the Black Panther character skin — as well as the Taskmaster and Captain Marvel characters — you’ll need to buy the bundle, which costs $24.99 in the Fortnite store, according to Polygon.

Why is it released now?

The Marvel skins are arriving a few weeks after the Marvel-themed season of Fortnite. It comes a few months after “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman passed away, too.

  • According to The Verge, it’s possible the Black Panther skin was set to be released during the Marvel season, but the game held off due to Boseman’s tragic death in the summer.
