On Monday, Salt Lake County issued a health order to shut down dine-in options for restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues. With takeout, curbside and delivery options still available, many Salt Lake restaurants are getting creative in how they can continue to serve the community.
A group of restaurants in the Salt Lake City area have come together with a new website to help people find and order curbside and takeout dining during the shutdown, according to a press release on Tuesday.
The new site, supportsaltlakedining.com, features links to local Salt Lake area restaurants that are offering curbside and takeout options. It is spearheaded by Market Street restaurants and will help local restaurants and establishments continue operating and keep as many people employed as possible, according to the press release.
“Thousands of people rely on income from the restaurant business and we want to minimize the impact that this shutdown will have on our employees and our customers as well as keep Salt Lake’s economy chugging along,” Fred Boutwell, director of operations for Market Street Grill, said in the press release.
Summit County ordered a similar closure of dine-in options for restaurants on Sunday, according to the Deseret News.
Utah had 41 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, the Deseret News reported.
