When Katy Perry released the video for her latest single “Never Worn White,” on March 4, fans were likely not expecting the video to also serve as a pregnancy announcement.
In the video, which has garnered just under 14 million views in less than two days, Perry sings about her hopes for her upcoming marriage to fiancé Orlando Bloom, making a it a great opportunity for the big reveal, the singer told Billboard.
Perry tweeted her relief at the secret finally being out on Twitter shortly after the video premiered, before thanking her fans for all their support a few days later.
Shortly after the music video was released, the “American Idol” judge went on Instagram Live to confirm that the baby bump in the video was indeed real, the pop star chatted with fans about her plans for the new album, as well as how hard it’s been to keep her pregnancy a secret while munching on some mangoes, Yahoo! News reports.
“It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep,” Perry said in the video. “I had to reveal it at some point, It’s getting pretty obvious.”
While Perry and Bloom were planning a Japan wedding during the early summer, they have postponed the ceremony due to worries about the coronavirus, Fox News reports.
Despite the pushing back their wedding, the couple will still have a busy summer, as BBC reports that the singer’s baby and her sixth album are both due for arrival this summer.
