A new music video from David Archuleta and the Rexburg Children’s Choir was released this week, despite facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Archuleta and the choir created a music video for the song “From a Distance,” which was made popular by Bette Midler, according to EastIdahoNews.com.
The pop singer recently shared on social media that the song holds special meaning for him.
“My mom used to sing this song when I was little. I used to watch videos of her singing it over and over,” Archuleta wrote on Instagram. “It made me feel peace of mind and that I was part of a bigger picture.”
But the video faced some challenges due to the COVID-19 shutdowns, according to EastIdahoNews.com. The choir finished recording the audio for the video just the week before things began to shut down.
Archuleta had been planning to film the video with the choir when he made a stop in Idaho for his tour in April. But then his tour was canceled and they were forced to make other plans.
Instead, the singer ended up filming his portion of the music video in Nashville in early July, separately from the choir, EastIdahoNews.com reported.
“I believe this production was meant to be,” said Ben Watson, the founder and conductor of the Rexburg Children’s Choir, according to EastIdahoNews.com. “The message is so relevant for today’s challenging circumstances. I hope that as people hear the beautiful music, it will bring a little more hope and gladness to their lives.”
Julie Gold, who is the Grammy Award-winning songwriter of “From a Distance,” heard the new version.
She shared her thoughts on Facebook, writing that the music video showed “the power of music and LOVE.”
