“Star Wars: The Mandalorian” star Carl Weathers recently tweeted praise for his co-star Gina Carano amid social media backlash for the actress.
What happened?
Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga on “The Mandalorian,” praised Carano in a new tweet.
- “So wonderful to have the opportunity to work with the beautiful Gina! She’s making her way through a very demanding industry as an artist and crafts person. And she’s hitting so many of the right notes. Nothing but upside awaiting her! #GoGina #BePeace.”

His tweet came in response to a tweet from another Twitter user, who celebrate Gina Carano’s recent interview.
- “#CaraDune represents so many individuals around the world, I think we’ve all had feelings of ‘where do I fit in this big world?’” the Twitter user said.

Why the tweet matters now
Gina Carano still gathers headlines based on social media reactions. Recently,“Star Wars” fans — or at least some of them on social media — called for the firing of “The Mandalorian” star Carano this last week, as I wrote about for the Deseret News. It happened after the official “Star Wars” Twitter account tweeted COVID-19 memorial post to honor those who had past. Carano has been criticized by fans for sharing her political beliefs on Twitter, which has included her mocking face masks and vaccines.
