There’s a new billboard up in Los Angeles, and it’s calling for Marvel Studios to revive Iron Man, the superhero who sacrificed his life to save the universe in the 2019 movie “Avengers: Endgame.”

The beloved character was played by Robert Downey Jr. over an 11-year span that started with the 2008 film “Iron Man.” While plenty of spectators were satisfied with Iron Man’s sendoff in “Avengers: Endgame,” some Marvel buffs are holding out hope that the character will make a triumphant return in the future, ComicBook.com reports.

A group of anonymous fans pooled money together to pay for the sign, according to Variety. The sign features the hashtag “#BringBackTonyStarkToLife.”

Variety reports that Marvel Studios currently has no plans to bring the Iron Man character back into play. As the fourth phase of the MCU begins to take shape with projects like “WandaVision,” “Black Widow” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” the studio is choosing to spotlight other Marvel characters.

In a 2020 interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Downey Jr. commented on the idea of reprising his role as Iron Man.

“To me, starting up again is off the table,” he said. “I feel like I’ve done all I could with that character. ... There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious. But the other thing is, I wanna do other stuff” (via Complex).
