The Grammy Awards show has a new date and location.
CBS and the Recording Academy announced that the music event will take place in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3, a week after the Academy Awards, per CNN.
The 2022 Grammys were supposed to be held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Jan. 31, but the omicron variant surge changed those plans, as previously reported by the Deseret News.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said: “We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show,” per CNN.
“From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the Grammy Awards and the Academy’s mission.”
Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show” and the 2021 Grammys, will return as master of ceremonies.
Additional details and dates, time and location of other Grammy events — including the premiere ceremony, the MusiCares Person of the Year benefit concert honoring Joni Mitchell and the Clive Davis, the pre-Grammy gala honoring Sony Music chief Rob Stringer — will be announced soon, per Variety.
