U.S. film distributor Angel Studios is teaming up with Kova Releasing, a faith-based distributor in the U.K., to bring its movies across the ocean, reports Variety.
Angel Studios, the distributor behind “Sound of Freedom,” made a “strategic slate deal” with Kova Releasing to put “uplifting true-stories and values-driven films” on movie theater screens in the U.K. and Ireland, Variety reports.
“As our Angel Guild continues to grow globally, so does the demand for stories that amplify light. This mission serves mainstream audiences worldwide, and these partnerships are key to expanding and innovating how we reach them,” said Jared Geesey, chief distribution officer at Angel Studios, told the outlet.
The first Angel Studios film slated for distribution in the U.K. is “Bonhoeffer” — which released in U.S. theaters in December. Then “The King of Kings,” an animated movie about Jesus Christ starring Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Mark Hamill, will land in U.K. theaters in April.
Through the Angel Studios and Kova Releasing partnership, the distributors will co-release a roster of faith-based films to theaters and streaming, reported Variety.
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Angel Studios on this incredible slate of films. At Kova Releasing, our mission is to bring compelling, hope-driven true stories to cinemas across the U.K. and Ireland, and Angel Studios has a proven track record of delivering exactly that,” Kova Releasing shared in at statement, per Variety.
The statement continued, “With ‘Bonhoeffer’ and ‘The King of Kings’ leading the way, this collaboration marks an exciting new chapter. We can’t wait to share these powerful films with audiences across the region.”

In 2024, Angel Studios released a five feature-length films in theaters: “Cabrini,” “Sight,” “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot,” “Bonhoeffer” and “Homestead.”
So far, the film studio’s 2025 release schedule includes “Brave the Dark,” “The King of Kings,” “The Last Rodeo” and “Jacob.”
Angel Studios describes itself as a “home for stories that amplify light.”
“Angel Studios will become known for fulfilling our universal human need for hope and light. Our time feels short. Choosing, funding, creating, and spreading stories that matter has never felt more urgent.”
