The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced that the Montpelier Idaho Temple will be dedicated this fall on Sunday, Oct. 18.
A free public open house period running every Monday through Saturday from Sept. 10-26 will precede the temple’s October dedication and enable guests of all faiths and ages to tour the Montpelier temple.
The temple will also open its doors to the media on Sept. 8 and to invited guests on Sept. 9.
The Montpelier temple will be dedicated Oct. 18 in a dedicatory session that will be broadcast and rebroadcast to all church units within the temple district at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Once dedicated, the Montpelier Idaho Temple will become the eighth operating temple in Idaho.
Other dedicated houses of the Lord in Idaho include the Boise, Burley, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Pocatello, Rexburg and Twin Falls temples.
Three other temples in Idaho are currently under construction or in planning/design stages. These temples include the Teton River, Caldwell and Coeur d’Alene Idaho temples.
The Montpelier Idaho Temple was first announced in April 2022 general conference by then-President Russell M. Nelson.
Construction of the temple began with a groundbreaking ceremony held June 17, 2023.
“Positive spiritual momentum increases as we worship in the temple and grow in our understanding of the magnificent breadth and depth of the blessings we receive there,” President Nelson taught just moments before announcing the Montpelier temple.
Sixteen other temples were announced alongside the Montpelier Idaho Temple in April 2022.
