IHOP has declared the first Tuesday of March as National Pancake Day, and in 2026, the celebration falls on March 3. To mark the occasion, the chain is dishing up free short stacks of its signature buttermilk pancakes.

“As the leader in breakfast, pancakes are part of our DNA — so much so that they’re embedded in our name,” Lenna Yamamichi, IHOP vice president brand creative, said in a statement. “This National Pancake Day, we want IHOP to feel like more than a restaurant. We’re getting creative and flipping the narrative, transforming IHOP into the go-to meetup spot to grab a free short stack, settle into a booth and turn a simple meal into quality time.”

To celebrate the 21st anniversary of National Pancake Day, the brand teamed up with musical artist and TikTok creator Mr. Fantasy. After creating content leading up to the event, Mr. Fantasy will appear on IHOP’s Hollywood location on Tuesday to greet fans in person.

How to get your free short stack

Diners can snag a free short stack from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. The offer is valid for dine-in guests only at participating restaurants nationwide, according to IHOP.

For those feeling extra festive and with a bigger appetite for a deal, IHOP is also running its “free bottomless pancakes” promotion, offered with the purchase of select breakfast combos.

Giving back

IHOP is inviting guests to “feel good while doing good” while they eat. For every $1 donated at an IHOP location on March 3, the brand will help provide at least 10 meals to local Feeding America partner food banks.

Why are other restaurants missing out?

Most local spots and major chains like Cracker Barrel and Corner Bakery Cafe typically serve up their deals on Sept. 26. That date is the autumn counterpart to IHOP’s spring celebration, giving pancake lovers two chances a year to feast on breakfast discounts.
