Parents understand how quickly the digital world is changing. Technology has created incredible opportunities for children but has also introduced new challenges that families are working through every day. Utah families value the parents’ role in raising and protecting their children.
That’s why the U.S. House of Representatives’ bipartisan passage of the KIDS Act is an important step forward. Lawmakers came together around an online safety solution that puts parents at the center of the conversation.
The KIDS Act gives parents tools to manage their children’s online experiences, strengthens privacy, limits targeted ads to minors and encourages platforms to make safety a priority from the start. The KIDS Act provides balance between safety and privacy. Parents want stronger protections for their children and want to know their personal information is being respected. This legislation empowers families and encourages platforms to take more responsibility.
The House deserves credit for bringing together members from both parties to advance legislation that protects children while respecting parents’ role in their lives. It is time for the Senate to follow the House’s lead. Utah families are looking for solutions that work. The KIDS Act gives parents the tools they need and provides a safer online experience for the next generation.
