Provo Canyon School’s license for its Springville campus was revoked on Monday by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.

“The department is taking this action because of the provider’s failure to provide applicable health and safety services for clients,” the notice to the school from the department said.

This comes after Paris Hilton, a celebrity entrepreneur and longtime anti-abuse advocate, spoke at a press conference in Provo last month about her experience at Provo Canyon School when she was a teen as well as recent allegations against the school.

Two lawsuits were announced at the event, alleging delayed medical care and neglect toward two students on separate occasions. The incident involving one student, identified as “B.H.” in court documents, was specified as having occurred at the Provo campus. The other case, involving a student named “AC” in court documents, did not specify which campus he attended.

A press release from Utah’s Health and Human Services said, “Provo Canyon School holds a separate license for the Provo campus,” which currently has conditions placed on it. Only the Springville campus license has been revoked.

Paris Hilton’s response

Hilton released a statement on Tuesday regarding the license revocation.

“For more than 50 years, children came forward with stories of abuse, neglect and trauma,” she said. “The state confirmed what survivors have known all along: Provo Canyon School failed the children in its care.”

She said she knows what it feels like to be one of the children at the school crying for help while no one comes. “Today, children still inside that facility know someone is finally coming to protect them.”

Hilton said that “the little girl in me who was told she would never be believed” feels validated. “No institution is too powerful to be held accountable. When survivors refuse to stay silent, change is possible.”

The terms

The notice of revocation said “all services must be terminated” by Aug. 6, 2026, “and any new enrollments are prohibited.”

The document listed citations going back to Jan. 22, 2025, addressing the campus’ “chronic, ongoing noncompliance with applicable rules, statutes or requirements.”

The school has 15 days to request an administrative hearing with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services if it disagrees with the revocation.
