SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz apparently weren’t done making moves Monday night after the reported trade of Dante Exum and draft picks to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Clarkson.
A few hours after that deal was reported, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the Jazz have waived veteran Jeff Green. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported a short time later that Utah will sign Rayjon Tucker, who is in his first season with the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate.
Clarkson ($13.4 million, according to Spotrac) makes more money than Exum ($9.1 million), although that would not appear to be a huge motivating factor for waiving Green, who makes $2.5 million. In his 13th year in the NBA, Green is averaging 7.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game but has been largely inconsistent.
In Tucker, the Jazz will get a 22-year-old 6-foot-3, 209-pound rookie out of Arkansas-Little Rock who has averaged 23.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the Herd this season.
He went undrafted over the summer.
