PROVO — The BYU basketball team has landed a spot in a multiteam tournament, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The Cougars will play in the Legends Classic at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, along with UConn, USC and Vanderbilt, Rothstein reported.

BYU assistant coach Nick Robinson confirmed to the Deseret News earlier this week that playing in this multiteam event was a possibility.

“It’s all hands on deck at this point. It’s been a real team effort. The past few weeks we have devoted a considerable amount of time to communicating with the best multiteam events, the teams we had on the schedule and the changes that need to be made with those teams,” Robinson said. “That process has been pretty relentless and consistent for the past three weeks and will be until we get everything finalized.”

BYU was originally scheduled to play in the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas Nov. 19 but that multiteam tournament was canceled due to the pandemic.

The Cougars will begin official practices Oct. 14.
