It didn’t come as any surprise, but the Utah State Aggies announced Monday that former Utah Ute Jason Shelley has been named their new starting quarterback, replacing Jordan Love, who was a first-round NFL draft pick of the Green Bay Packers.

Shelley, whose transfer north came in mid-July, was widely seen as the surefire starter, especially once Henry Colombi transferred to Texas Tech a week later (Colombi has since become the Red Raiders’ starting quarterback under former Aggies head coach Matt Wells).

In 19 games over two seasons with the Utes, Shelley threw for 1,205 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions.

Sophomore Andrew Peasley and redshirt freshman Cooper Legas are listed behind Shelley on Utah State’s depth chart.
