Portland Trail Blazers receive: Robert Covington

Houston Rockets receive: Trevor Ariza, first-round picks in 2020 and 2021

Source: ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

THE SKINNY: Wojnarowski reported Monday night that Rockets star James Harden is pushing hard to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets, and many surmised that this deal could be a preparatory one for that blockbuster. Covington is a perfect fit in Portland as a “4” who can defend and shoot.

Phoenix Suns receive: Chris Paul, Abdel Nader

Oklahoma City Thunder receive: Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque, 2022 first-round pick

Sources: ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, The Athletic’s Shams Charania

THE SKINNY: After a great run in the NBA’s bubble over the summer, the Suns made a huge move by acquiring the All-Star Paul to be their floor general. That forms a core with the young Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, accelerating Phoenix’s timeline toward being a significant challenge in the Western Conference.

For the Thunder, the deal continues what is on track to be a very smart rebuild by general manager Sam Presti. Paul’s contract is massive the next few years, and Presti was able to flip it for a solid veteran in former Utah Jazz guard Ricky Rubio, a couple of young players and another first-round draft pick, making a whopping 16 they own the rights to over the next six years.

Brooklyn Nets receive: Bruce Brown

Detroit Pistons receive: Dzanan Musa, 2021 second-round pick
